ASKING FOR AND GIVING DIRECTIONS

In the following links you will learn and practice vocabulary for getting around a city.

Understanding Prepositions:

In English the are some prepositions we need to express place and direction. Read and write down on your notebook the following information about prepositions

These videos will help you understand the grammar of prepositions:
Part 1, prepositions of location AT    IN    ON   (general)
Part 2, more detailed prepositions of location

Prepositions of movement: where is the ball going?

And here are some fun flash cards to remind you of prepositions of place and prepositions of movement.  Remember to look through all of them!  You can find them on the right side of the page.

Homework: Write about 10 sentences using prepositions of place you find in this picture.  Then go to this webpage, answer and print the exercises.

Here is a video on giving directions.

There is no audio for this video but it shows good vocabulary for giving and understanding directions.  Only watch the video until minute mark 5:38, after that it does not speak of directions.

Write down the ways of giving directions and asking for directions. Go to this webpage, asnwer and print the exercise.

PRACTICE. You are going to listen and do the exercises.

More practice. Do the preparation exercise before you listen. Then, look at the map and listen to the directions while you do the other exercises.
